The Police are very keen for people to report all cold callers offering gardening, driveway and tree services so that they can gauge the true scale of the problem in the rural area. We are asked to send observations together with company names, if available, to our local CAT officer, Neil Busby. The CAT telephone number is 0845 458 6394, mickle.trafford.cat@cheshire.pnn.police.uk. |

I’ve been asked to explain the significance of ‘Thatcham approved’, security devices. Thatcham is a government approved testing facility. As well as vehicle safety, it also tests security devices for cars. The Thatcham approved logo on a security device means it meets quite exacting, minimum standards. So, whether it’s a steering lock, alarm, immobiliser or tracking devise look for the ‘Thatcham approved’ sticker. www.thatcham.org.
We are still seeing increasing levels of theft of lead and copper and also burglaries where pedal cycles are being stolen. I’ve already engraved the owners post code onto a couple of hundred pedal cycles this year. If you are thinking of buying a bike for Christmas, watch this space for cycle marking sessions that I’ll be holding early in the new year and as well as the bike, buy a good quality ‘D’ lock or lock and chain. |
