September 2011   After the Summer break we have lots of activities and events to tempt you! Exercise, dancing, painting, local history, plays, live music, martial arts!  Now’s the time to join a class or enjoy a glass at the Village Hall either at the bi-monthly Drop Inns the Rural Touring Arts or Film Nights. And it’s all on your doorstep. If you would like to contribute views about the Village Hall, its activities or events please do come along to the September Village Hall meeting on Thursday 22nd September – starting at 2000hrs. Lots of details are posted on the VH website. See address above. You can do some shopping on the website too. It all helps to generate much needed funds to keep the Hall running.  We look forward to welcoming both our regulars and new faces at the Hall.

Text Box: PROJECT 60 – preparation › creation › recreation

The Village Hall management committee has agreed to embark on a funding campaign with the aim of re-building the older section of the hall. This follows on from the previously successful Project 50 fund- raising campaign. This enabled various up-grades of the hall structure and facilities.

In these financially challenging times the Committee is keen to find experienced help in this endeavour by appointing 2 volunteers for the two roles listed below.

Development Appeal Secretary

Should have extensive contact details within the donor community locally (probably means that the candidate will be a senior banker, lawyer or accountant, maybe recently retired).
Will be responsible for the following:-
1. Liaising with donors (Big Lottery, WREN, CWAC, local banks, insurers, etc)
2. Develop funding campaigns – the main one being the Hall Rebuilding (Project 60)
3. Develop and arrange fund-raising events.
Should live within the catchment area for the village hall for preference

Project 60 – Project Manager

Should have extensive experience of managing similar sized (£300k-£400k) construction projects – probably means the candidate will be either a developer or architect or surveyor.
Will be responsible for the following:-
1. Finalising the design requirements for the new hall
2. Co-ordinating the planning approval
3. Assisting with the funding from the grant donors (along with the Development Appeal Secretary)
4. Managing the construction phase
5. Handover to the Hall Committee
Ideally will also live in the community, but this may be difficult to achieve, and may not be so important.

If you are interested in either position or know someone who might be
then please contact in the first instance:
The Chairman, Rosie Sedgwick on 01244 851 395 or
The Treasurer, Chris Jones on 07980 292024
